Until 2014, all Urals use mechanical steering dampers. While it is an effective feature, it does not perform as well as a hydraulic damper. The rider will see benefits both on and off the road, as the hydraulic damper automatically compensates for any changes in the riding conditions, unlike a mechanical damper that you must manually adjust depending on riding conditions. In 2018, Ural took it a step further and upgraded to a higher quality “Bitubo” hydraulic damper, with an improved design, high quality material, stronger, and a more durable steering damper.
This kit includes all necessary hardware and detailed installation instructions to upgrade your Ural to the modern hydraulic setup. Choose between the Economy Damper, or the high quality Bitubo OEM Damper. Alternatively, if you already have a hydraulic damper and wish to retrofit your Pre-2014 bike, you may purchase just the hardware.

Steering Made Easy
What a difference this hydraulic steering damper makes on my 2006 Ural Patrol. The steering is 100% easier and makes the ride a lot more comfortable and less wobble. No instructions were enclosed, but I was able to find instruction on youtube. I highly recommend this product.

Steering Damper Helped My Ural
When I read that the 2014 Urals had a hydraulic steering damper, I had to get one. My 2009 Sahara Edition has knobby tires and I like the look but found the handling to be a bit "loose" at higher speeds. The damper solved that. I kept the friction damper also and have it adjusted just right for my comfort. Quality of the damper is high and I am happy. No instructions was a surprise, but I found detailed fitting on the web.

Finally a Modern Steering Damper
It was great to see this modern damper available so quickly to the pre-2014 crowd. The only problem I had was the instructions didn't come with it (even after I asked for them) and I had to go on-line and find directions from someone who had already installed one.
